Tries Too Hard To Be Cool

The Last Battle for Camelot (Avalon) - Robert Larrison

A prequel for a series intended to be a light-hearted take on the Once and Future King part of the legend, that's where the issues lie. It's like he tried to write a Dark Ages episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, except it comes off way too contemporary with barely any setup material for what's to come in the series- which seems to be a growing trend. Plus the author has no grasp of how to even use language: the Lady of the Lake is described in medieval times as wearing a skimpy costume and Merlin and Morgan wander the forest trading death spells (sic). Try wrapping your head around that one.
